Puggle Info

The puggle is a relatively new, very popular cross breed. In case you hadn’t already guessed from the name, they are a planned cross between a Beagle (the bitch) and a Pug (the dog). Because puggles are so new, there is not a standard breed specification. Many puggle litters vary in size and characteristics, although the following are fairly typical:

+ =

General Appearance

A small, energetic dog with a thickset body, deep forehead wrinkles, short legs, a curled tail and droopy ears. The short, smooth coat can be fawn, tan, white and black, or a mixture. They usually have a black mask.

Size

An adult puggle weighs 14-25 lbs, and will be about 13-15 inches tall at the shoulder.

Character & Temperament

Puggles are generally energetic, sweet tempered, playful, intelligent, loving and sociable. They should be friendly to children, other dogs, and any household pets.

Exercise

Puggles are energetic dogs, which love to play, and enjoy walks and exercise. However, they also love relaxing in a warm lap, and cuddling with their owners.

Coat & Grooming

The short, smooth coat does moult, but not excessively. Being smaller dogs, the amount of hair shed is not significant compared with larger breeds. Puggles are fairly low-maintenance breed, requiring only an occasional bath, together with nail clipping and ear cleaning.

Training

Puggles are fairly easy to train, and like other small dogs, can be taught to use a litter tray if necessary. They love to please their owners.
